'21CS' was a three part narrative multimedia installation articulating two dual stories of crashed economies, the personal, my experiences in the ash cloud post the 2008 stock market crash and the collective, the earlier Japanese asset price bubble burst. The work focused upon moments of synchronicity between the personal and collective, and explored the effect of 'kawaii' culture on my generation after the Japanese crash leading up to the stock market crash. The installation communicated notions of global economy through the constant seemingly random barrage of images/videos/gifs and playable video games (Irrational Games 2007 dystopian re-imagining of Ayn Rand's 'Atlas Shrugged', 'BIOSHOCK'), removing images from their cultural context and transforming them into a place-less global tradeable economy.
